Johnny Vander Meer, 23 year old Cincinnati Reds pitcher in only his second season in the Big Leagues pitched back to back no hit games,
Johnny's remarkable performances began on June 11, 1938, with a 3-0 victory against the Boston Braves, at Crosly Field, home of the Reds.
Four days later on June 15, 39000 fans jammed into Ebbitts Field in Brooklyn, N.Y., to witness the first night game ever played in Ebbitts Field. After a fireworks display and a sprinting exhibition featuring Jessie Owens, American Olympic hero, Johnny took the mound, and shut down the Dodgers 6-0, to record his second no hit game in 4 days. His family and friends from Midland Park N.J were on hand to witness Johnny's moment of glory.
Johnny's record feat has never again been equaled in Major League Baseball history.
