Bob and his kid brothers meet the Georgia Peach, in person, long after his ferocious playing days were over.
At Hawes Park, Redwood City Ca, on July 4,1952 the annual Donkey Baseball Game was being played. Ty who resided in nearby Atherton, was in attendance to enjoy the farce.
The crowd was festive and Cobb loved it. He talked with the kids who flocked around the legend. He told jokes and signed autographs for all of the kids,
Bob still treasures his autograph of Ty Cobb written in green ink, from Ty's fountain pen. That sweltering summer day 55 years ago is always remembered. Ty Cobb loved the kids and they loved him back.
Others say he was the meanest bastard to ever play the game.
