Dale Metcalf remembers …… the origin of the 'Twinkie Defense'

I am pleased to discuss the Dan White case with City Journalist
Directory
I suggest that you read Paul Krassner's article which appeared in the
San Francisco Bay Guardian which you can probably find on the
internet

First of all Steven Scherr and Doug Schmidt deserve all the credit for
their successful defense of Dan White

My involvement was limited to the "diminished capacity" defense
aspects of the case.
I had recently been reading a book by Abram Hoffer, MD, PhD
(originally titled "Schizophrenia") . The book suggested a link
between nutrition and Schizophrenia

Scherr who was my chess partner and I discussed the case in the
cafeteria of the Hall of Justice, Steven told me that Dan White had
been up all night before the day of the murders, feasting on junk food
such as the sugar laced Twinkie snack food. I suggested he read
Hoffer's book as it might relate to the a "diminished capacity"
defense.

That is the extent of my contribution
