Mark Philippoussis, served with Financial Ace

The former top ten ranked pro tennis player Mark Philippoussis is now experiencing a battering as he has spent all the money he earned on the ATP tour and from sponsors

Philippoussis now 32, earned more than 7 Million USD on the tour, plus many additional millions in sponsorship deals over the years

Mark has not played on the tour since 2007 due to chronic knee injuries, in his last match he had to be carried off court with yet another serious knee problem

Now back living in Australia the future looks bleak for the two times Grand Slam finalist

But, let’s not write off this charismatic individual, he has a gritty character, and although he is down at the moment, we trust he can bounce back

Maybe the Seniors Tour is an option, if he can get the doctors to sort out his knees, so they can cope with the strain of all the stress that top class tennis will impose on his fragile limbs

Some recent quotes from Mark :-
"Things are tough. Financially tough, but more importantly than that, it's been the mental side.
"I wouldn't say I'm battling depression, but have I been depressed a lot in the past two years? And freaked out about a lot of things? The answer is yes."
"I haven't played tennis since 2006, and tennis is one of those sports where if you don't play, you don't get paid," he added.
I've lived an easy life, the life you dream about. And at that time I thought it was normal, but it's so far from normal," he said.
"Money came in left, right and centre; you just thought that's how it was for everyone and that's how it will always be."
Philippoussis said he was looking to play in tennis legends events with former stars like John McEnroe, Jim Courier and Pat Cash.
"I've just got to take it on the chin and deal with it. It's the toughest time of my life right now, but it's also the best time because I've woken up to so many things in my life," he said.
"When I get back up from this I'll appreciate so many things so much more. I've fallen down and I'll get back up."
The way back will be long and arduous but we hope he succeeds because the chance to see him playing either on the Senior’s Tour or on the Tennis Legends circuit will be worth the wait

Mark Philippoussi was always a top box office draw on the card

We wish him well, it will be worth waiting for his return!
