Chinese Police Officers who pass the exam will then continue duties for five years whereupon they will be re-examined prior to getting the go ahead for the following 5 years service on patrol. Within police ranks officers seeking promotion will be assessed according to their exam results and real time on patrol track record as a police officer, thereupon the best will be deemed suitable for promotion subject to senior vacancies needing new officers.

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) are expecting – quote – ‘Chinese police officers to study hard in an effort to master the laws and regulations, which can help them do a better job’
