'The Authors Lounge',

This elegant colonial style tea room is decorated with white rattan furniture.

The Authors Lounge was being used for a high fashion photo shoot on the day of our visit.

We snapped a few pictures and wandered into the adjacent 'Reading Room'. Pictures of the worlds most famous writers, many of whom stayed at The Oriental during their travels, hang on the wall, including Ernest Hemingway, Joseph Conrad, George Orwell.

A personal letter from Jeffrey Archer is also among the collection lovingly looked after by a gracious charming literature loving lady who has worked at The Oriental for 61 years.
